# Xfinity Stream vs iON Classic

The clearest difference is review sentiment: iON Classic at 67% against Xfinity Stream's 18%. iON Classic also leads on ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). Xfinity Stream's advantage is rating (4.6 vs 3.7) and ratings volume (266K vs 3). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Xfinity Stream holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Xfinity Stream has 266K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 18% of Xfinity Stream's written reviews are positive against 67% of iON Classic's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Xfinity Stream ships an update every 2 months, iON Classic every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 18, 2026 and October 9, 2026 respectively.
