# Hive Learning vs Microsoft Loop

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Hive Learning at 67% against Microsoft Loop's 21%. Hive Learning also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 4) and iOS requirement (15.1 vs 18.0). Microsoft Loop's advantage is rating (4.6 vs 2.7) and ratings volume (4.9K vs 3). On price, update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Microsoft Loop sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Hive Learning asks for nothing beyond the download.

Microsoft Loop holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 2.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Microsoft Loop has 4.9K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 67% of Hive Learning's written reviews are positive against 21% of Microsoft Loop's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Hive Learning ships an update fortnightly, Microsoft Loop monthly. The most recent releases landed on September 25, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
