# Emphasis vs Pomodoro

The clearest difference is ads: Emphasis at none against Pomodoro's shown. Emphasis also leads on review sentiment (84% vs 50%) and update cadence (fortnightly vs monthly). Pomodoro's advantage is ratings volume (11K vs 1.1K) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.0). On price, rating, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Emphasis sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $3.49 per month and Pomodoro sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for Emphasis against 4.7 for Pomodoro. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Pomodoro has 11K ratings behind it against 1.1K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 84% of Emphasis's written reviews are positive against 50% of Pomodoro's.

Emphasis ships an update fortnightly, Pomodoro monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 11, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
