# IELTSpeaking vs IELTS Speaking

The clearest difference is review sentiment: IELTSpeaking at 94% against IELTS Speaking's 29%. IELTSpeaking also leads on rating (4.6 vs 4.0) and update cadence (every 6 days vs every 3 months). IELTS Speaking's advantage is monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. IELTSpeaking sells 17 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days and IELTS Speaking sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

IELTSpeaking holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: IELTSpeaking has 1.2K ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 94% of IELTSpeaking's written reviews are positive against 29% of IELTS Speaking's.

IELTSpeaking ships an update every 6 days, IELTS Speaking every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
