# Better Font vs Calligraphy Master

Better Font and Calligraphy Master both sit at 4.4 stars, but that hides the real split: 75% of Better Font's written reviews are positive against 34% of Calligraphy Master's. Better Font also leads on ratings volume (87K vs 2.5K) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 3 months). Calligraphy Master's advantage is monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Better Font sells 11 in-app purchases, starting at $19.99 per year and Calligraphy Master sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.4 for Better Font against 4.3 for Calligraphy Master. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Better Font has 87K ratings behind it against 2.5K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 75% of Better Font's written reviews are positive against 34% of Calligraphy Master's.

Better Font ships an update every 3 weeks, Calligraphy Master every 3 months. Both last shipped on October 27, 2026.
