# Big Cartel vs Payhip

The clearest difference is rating: Big Cartel at 4.7 against Payhip's 2.0. Big Cartel also leads on ratings volume (6.8K vs 40) and review sentiment (28% vs 14%). Payhip's advantage is monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Big Cartel holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 2.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Big Cartel has 6.8K ratings behind it against 40, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 28% of Big Cartel's written reviews are positive against 14% of Payhip's.

Big Cartel ships an update fortnightly, Payhip monthly. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
