# Shopbop vs Madewell

Shopbop and Madewell both sit at 4.6 stars, but that hides the real split: 54% of Shopbop's written reviews are positive against 11% of Madewell's. Shopbop also leads on device support (3 vs 1) and iOS requirement (15.1 vs 17.0). Madewell's advantage is monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and ratings volume (26K vs 1.8K). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for Shopbop against 4.8 for Madewell. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Madewell has 26K ratings behind it against 1.8K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 54% of Shopbop's written reviews are positive against 11% of Madewell's.

Shopbop ships an update monthly, Madewell fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
