# Translate.com vs Translate

The clearest difference is rating: Translate at 4.8 against Translate.com's 3.6. Translate also leads on ratings volume (2K vs 80) and chart position (#51 vs unranked). Translate.com's advantage is monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription) and review sentiment (44% vs 29%). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Translate.com sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $0.99 per 7 days and Translate sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $7.95 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Translate holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 3.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Translate has 2K ratings behind it against 80, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 44% of Translate.com's written reviews are positive against 29% of Translate's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Translate.com ships an update every 6 weeks, Translate every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
