# Zee 5 vs MX Player

The clearest difference is update cadence: Zee 5 at every 5 days against MX Player's monthly. Zee 5 also leads on chart position (#110 vs unranked). MX Player's advantage is review sentiment (37% vs 15%) and ratings volume (362K vs 24K). On price, rating, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Zee 5 sells 21 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month and MX Player sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for Zee 5 against 4.6 for MX Player. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MX Player has 362K ratings behind it against 24K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 15% of Zee 5's written reviews are positive against 37% of MX Player's.

Zee 5 ships an update every 5 days, MX Player monthly. Both last shipped on October 21, 2026.
