# The Frame Camera vs Trichromy

The clearest difference is rating: Trichromy at 5.0 against The Frame Camera's 4.1. Trichromy also leads on ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 4 months). The Frame Camera's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 80%) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 15.0). On price, ratings volume, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. The Frame Camera sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Trichromy sells 4 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Trichromy holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.1. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 13 and 8 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of The Frame Camera's written reviews are positive against 80% of Trichromy's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

The Frame Camera ships an update every 4 months, Trichromy every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 10, 2026 and October 5, 2026 respectively.
