# Playback vs Praise

The clearest difference is ads: Playback at none against Praise's shown. Playback also leads on update cadence (every 5 weeks vs every 11 months) and chart position (#176 vs unranked). Praise's advantage is review sentiment (75% vs 66%). On price, rating, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Playback sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and Praise sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.8 for Playback against 4.7 for Praise. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Playback has 4.3K ratings behind it against 625, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 66% of Playback's written reviews are positive against 75% of Praise's.

Playback ships an update every 5 weeks, Praise every 11 months. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
