# Playback vs Rocka

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Rocka at none against Playback's 3. Rocka also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.8). Playback's advantage is update cadence (every 5 weeks vs every 13 months) and ratings volume (4.3K vs 5). On price, ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Playback sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Rocka asks for nothing beyond the download.

Rocka holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Playback has 4.3K ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Playback ships an update every 5 weeks, Rocka every 13 months. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 12, 2026 respectively.
