# Spond vs Crossbar

Spond and Crossbar both sit at 4.9 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of Crossbar's written reviews are positive against 61% of Spond's. Crossbar also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). Spond's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs every 5 months) and ratings volume (3.8K vs 2). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for Spond against 5.0 for Crossbar. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Spond has 3.8K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 61% of Spond's written reviews are positive against 100% of Crossbar's.

Spond ships an update weekly, Crossbar every 5 months. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
