# Range cooking thermometer vs CHEF iQ

The clearest difference is rating: CHEF iQ at 4.7 against Range cooking thermometer's 3.7. CHEF iQ also leads on ratings volume (34K vs 11) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 2 months). Range cooking thermometer's advantage is review sentiment (70% vs 43%) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

CHEF iQ holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: CHEF iQ has 34K ratings behind it against 11, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 70% of Range cooking thermometer's written reviews are positive against 43% of CHEF iQ's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Range cooking thermometer ships an update every 2 months, CHEF iQ every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 7, 2026 and October 19, 2026 respectively.
