# Barometer vs Professional Barometer

The clearest difference is price: Professional Barometer at Free against Barometer's $2.99. Professional Barometer also leads on review sentiment (45% vs 34%) and iOS requirement (17.0 vs 26.0). Barometer's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 4 months vs every 42 months). On in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Professional Barometer is free to download; Barometer costs $2.99 up front. Barometer sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Professional Barometer sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Barometer holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Barometer has 144 ratings behind it against 17, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 34% of Barometer's written reviews are positive against 45% of Professional Barometer's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Barometer ships an update every 4 months, Professional Barometer every 42 months. The most recent releases landed on November 6, 2026 and November 7, 2026 respectively.
