# NMEAconnect vs AmpWidgets

The clearest difference is update cadence: AmpWidgets at every 2 weeks against NMEAconnect's every 5 months. AmpWidgets also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.7) and price ($0.99 vs $3.99). NMEAconnect's advantage is review sentiment (86% vs 67%) and ratings volume (3 vs 1). On ads, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

NMEAconnect costs $3.99 and AmpWidgets $0.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

AmpWidgets holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 3 and 1 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 86% of NMEAconnect's written reviews are positive against 67% of AmpWidgets's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

NMEAconnect ships an update every 5 months, AmpWidgets every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 4, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
