# iA Writer vs Mindz Pro

The clearest difference is price: Mindz Pro at $4.99 against iA Writer's $19.99. Mindz Pro also leads on review sentiment (100% vs 73%). iA Writer's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 20 months) and ratings volume (1.5K vs 7). On rating, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

iA Writer costs $19.99 and Mindz Pro $4.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

iA Writer holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: iA Writer has 1.5K ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 73% of iA Writer's written reviews are positive against 100% of Mindz Pro's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

iA Writer ships an update fortnightly, Mindz Pro every 20 months. The most recent releases landed on October 19, 2026 and October 6, 2026 respectively.
