# Step Counter free vs Step Counter

The clearest difference is rating: Step Counter at 4.5 against Step Counter free's 3.0. Step Counter also leads on ratings volume (42 vs 4). Step Counter free's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). On price, review sentiment, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Step Counter holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Step Counter has 42 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 67% of Step Counter free's written reviews are positive against 62% of Step Counter's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
