# Step Counter free vs Steps Counter

The clearest difference is rating: Steps Counter at 4.6 against Step Counter free's 3.0. Steps Counter also leads on ratings volume (294 vs 4). Step Counter free's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 1) and ads (none vs shown). On price, review sentiment, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Steps Counter sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $19.99 per year. Step Counter free asks for nothing beyond the download.

Steps Counter holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Steps Counter has 294 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 67% of Step Counter free's written reviews are positive against 64% of Steps Counter's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
