# JapaneseDoll vs 続

The clearest difference is update cadence: 続 at monthly against JapaneseDoll's every 6 months. 続 also leads on rating (4.8 vs 4.6) and review sentiment (97% vs 88%). JapaneseDoll's advantage is ratings volume (2K vs 6) and monetization model (ad-supported vs free with in-app purchases). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

続 holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: JapaneseDoll has 2K ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 88% of JapaneseDoll's written reviews are positive against 97% of 続's.

JapaneseDoll ships an update every 6 months, 続 monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
