# Play vs Enhanced Music Controller

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Enhanced Music Controller at 77% against Play's 25%. Enhanced Music Controller also leads on ads (none vs shown). Play's advantage is price (Free vs $3.99) and rating (4.5 vs 4.1). On update cadence, in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Play is free to download; Enhanced Music Controller costs $3.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Play holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Play has 3.5K ratings behind it against 28, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 25% of Play's written reviews are positive against 77% of Enhanced Music Controller's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Play ships an update every 2 months, Enhanced Music Controller every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
