# instdown vs Video Factory

The clearest difference is review sentiment: instdown at 51% against Video Factory's 25%. instdown also leads on ratings volume (148K vs 5). Video Factory's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.7) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15.0). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. instdown sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $3.99 per year and Video Factory sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $2.49 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Video Factory holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: instdown has 148K ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 51% of instdown's written reviews are positive against 25% of Video Factory's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

instdown ships an update every 5 weeks, Video Factory every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 19, 2026 and October 10, 2026 respectively.
