# Hollywood Connect vs Chief Mate

The clearest difference is rating: Chief Mate at 5.0 against Hollywood Connect's 1.8. Chief Mate also leads on ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). Hollywood Connect's advantage is ratings volume (16 vs 1) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15.1). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Chief Mate holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 1.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Hollywood Connect has 16 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.
