# R vs Type Fast

The clearest difference is price: Type Fast at Free against R's $1.99. Type Fast also leads on rating (4.4 vs 3.7) and ratings volume (521 vs 27). R's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 1) and ads (none vs shown). On review sentiment, update cadence, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Type Fast is free to download; R costs $1.99 up front. Type Fast sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. R asks for nothing beyond the download.

Type Fast holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Type Fast has 521 ratings behind it against 27, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 68% of R's written reviews are positive against 63% of Type Fast's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

R ships an update monthly, Type Fast fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
