# Shifter vs Devour

The clearest difference is rating: Devour at 5.0 against Shifter's 4.4. Devour also leads on update cadence (weekly vs every 3 months). Shifter's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (24 vs 1). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Shifter sells 5 one-off in-app purchases and Devour sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Devour holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Shifter has 24 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Shifter ships an update every 3 months, Devour weekly. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
