# CanvasView vs CastOn

The clearest difference is rating: CastOn at 4.5 against CanvasView's 3.3. CastOn also leads on ratings volume (5.6K vs 8) and update cadence (every 4 weeks vs every 3 months). CanvasView's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 11) and ads (none vs shown). On price and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. CastOn sells 11 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. CanvasView asks for nothing beyond the download.

CastOn holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 3.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: CastOn has 5.6K ratings behind it against 8, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 50% of CanvasView's written reviews are positive against 36% of CastOn's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

CanvasView ships an update every 3 months, CastOn every 4 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
