# Smart vs Speech To Text Premium

The clearest difference is rating: Smart at 4.0 against Speech To Text Premium's 3.3. Speech To Text Premium's advantage is update cadence (every 2 months vs every 12 months) and review sentiment (48% vs 25%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Smart sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Speech To Text Premium sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Smart holds the better App Store score, 4.0 against 3.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Speech To Text Premium has 25 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 25% of Smart's written reviews are positive against 48% of Speech To Text Premium's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Smart ships an update every 12 months, Speech To Text Premium every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 11, 2026 and October 23, 2026 respectively.
