# Avast VPN vs Temp Mail

Avast VPN and Temp Mail both sit at 4.7 stars, but that hides the real split: 80% of Temp Mail's written reviews are positive against 45% of Avast VPN's. Avast VPN's advantage is update cadence (every 2 months vs every 17 months) and ratings volume (24K vs 2K). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Avast VPN sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and Temp Mail sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for Avast VPN against 4.7 for Temp Mail. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Avast VPN has 24K ratings behind it against 2K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 45% of Avast VPN's written reviews are positive against 80% of Temp Mail's.

Avast VPN ships an update every 2 months, Temp Mail every 17 months. Both last shipped on October 30, 2026.
