# Avast VPN vs Argon VPN

The clearest difference is monetization model: Argon VPN at free with in-app purchases against Avast VPN's subscription. Argon VPN also leads on update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 2 months) and iOS requirement (15.6 vs 17.0). Avast VPN's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (24K vs 350). On price, rating, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Avast VPN sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and Argon VPN sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Avast VPN holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Avast VPN has 24K ratings behind it against 350, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Avast VPN ships an update every 2 months, Argon VPN every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
