# Avast VPN vs InstAddr

Avast VPN and InstAddr both sit at 4.7 stars, but that hides the real split: 87% of InstAddr's written reviews are positive against 45% of Avast VPN's. InstAddr also leads on monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription) and iOS requirement (14.0 vs 17.0). Avast VPN's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (24K vs 960). On price, rating, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Avast VPN sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and InstAddr sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $1.49 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for Avast VPN against 4.5 for InstAddr. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Avast VPN has 24K ratings behind it against 960, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 45% of Avast VPN's written reviews are positive against 87% of InstAddr's.

Avast VPN ships an update every 2 months, InstAddr monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 31, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
