# Hidden Object vs Detectives

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Hidden Object at none against Detectives's 8. Detectives's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 2 months vs every 16 months). On price, rating, review sentiment and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Detectives sells 8 one-off in-app purchases. Hidden Object asks for nothing beyond the download.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.5 for Hidden Object against 4.5 for Detectives. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Detectives has 1.2K ratings behind it against 31, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 82% of Hidden Object's written reviews are positive against 85% of Detectives's.

Hidden Object ships an update every 16 months, Detectives every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 17, 2026 respectively.
