Robot Talk is a basic Text to Speech application. It allows you to type in text, and reads it back to you in the voice of your choice (inc. your Personal Voice on iOS 17+). It uses the built-in selection of voices on your device. It also allows you the option to change the voice pitch/rate/volume. Supports both iPhone/iPad. You can also save the output to an m4a/caf/wav/aiff audio file, which can then be shared via messaging. Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: Robot Talk at 60% against TTS's 17%. Robot Talk also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 4) and ads (none vs shown). TTS's advantage is rating (3.7 vs 3.2) and update cadence (every 2 months vs every 9 months). On price and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. TTS sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per 7 days. Robot Talk asks for nothing beyond the download.
TTS holds the better App Store score, 3.7 against 3.2. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 18 and 6 respectively. Robot Talk ships an update every 9 months, TTS every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
