# PocketBook Reader vs Interchange

The clearest difference is monetization model: PocketBook Reader at free with in-app purchases against Interchange's subscription. PocketBook Reader also leads on ratings volume (10K vs 212) and chart position (#178 vs unranked). Interchange's advantage is update cadence (every 6 days vs every 2 months) and review sentiment (73% vs 55%). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. PocketBook Reader sells 41 one-off in-app purchases and Interchange sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $2.49 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

PocketBook Reader holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: PocketBook Reader has 10K ratings behind it against 212, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 55% of PocketBook Reader's written reviews are positive against 73% of Interchange's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

PocketBook Reader ships an update every 2 months, Interchange every 6 days. The most recent releases landed on October 25, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
