# PocketBook Reader vs DC Books

The clearest difference is review sentiment: PocketBook Reader at 55% against DC Books's 11%. PocketBook Reader also leads on rating (4.5 vs 1.9) and ratings volume (10K vs 12). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. PocketBook Reader sells 42 one-off in-app purchases and DC Books sells 37 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

PocketBook Reader holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 1.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: PocketBook Reader has 10K ratings behind it against 12, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 55% of PocketBook Reader's written reviews are positive against 11% of DC Books's.

PocketBook Reader ships an update every 2 months, DC Books every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 31, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
