# PocketBook Reader vs Manual for Microsoft Excel with Secrets and Tricks

The clearest difference is rating: PocketBook Reader at 4.5 against Manual for Microsoft Excel with Secrets and Tricks's 3.8. PocketBook Reader also leads on monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription) and update cadence (every 2 months vs every 26 months). Manual for Microsoft Excel with Secrets and Tricks's advantage is review sentiment (80% vs 55%) and iOS requirement (8.0 vs 13.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. PocketBook Reader sells 42 one-off in-app purchases and Manual for Microsoft Excel with Secrets and Tricks sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $2.49 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

PocketBook Reader holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: PocketBook Reader has 10K ratings behind it against 93, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 55% of PocketBook Reader's written reviews are positive against 80% of Manual for Microsoft Excel with Secrets and Tricks's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

PocketBook Reader ships an update every 2 months, Manual for Microsoft Excel with Secrets and Tricks every 26 months. The most recent releases landed on October 28, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
