# Peak vs Name Skillz

The clearest difference is price: Peak at Free against Name Skillz's $4.99. Peak also leads on ratings volume (146K vs 31) and rating (4.7 vs 4.4). Name Skillz's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 10) and ads (none vs shown). On update cadence there is nothing between them.

Peak is free to download; Name Skillz costs $4.99 up front. Peak sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Name Skillz asks for nothing beyond the download.

Peak holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Peak has 146K ratings behind it against 31, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 63% of Peak's written reviews are positive against 85% of Name Skillz's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 19, 2026 respectively.
