# Slate vs TACAC

The clearest difference is rating: TACAC at 5.0 against Slate's 3.4. TACAC also leads on update cadence (every 2 months vs every 8 months). Slate's advantage is ratings volume (28 vs 2). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

TACAC holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Slate has 28 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Slate ships an update every 8 months, TACAC every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 8, 2026 and October 3, 2026 respectively.
