# Slate vs NCAA Events

The clearest difference is rating: NCAA Events at 5.0 against Slate's 3.4. Slate's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

NCAA Events holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Slate has 28 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Slate ships an update every 8 months, NCAA Events every 6 months. The most recent releases landed on October 8, 2026 and September 24, 2026 respectively.
