# Font vs Phraseboard

The clearest difference is ads: Phraseboard at none against Font's shown. Phraseboard also leads on update cadence (every 8 days vs every 5 weeks). Font's advantage is ratings volume (6.2K vs 20). On price, rating, review sentiment and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Font sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month and Phraseboard sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for Font against 4.5 for Phraseboard. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Font has 6.2K ratings behind it against 20, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 85% of Font's written reviews are positive against 88% of Phraseboard's.

Font ships an update every 5 weeks, Phraseboard every 8 days. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 22, 2026 respectively.
