# XmlPad vs UpNote

The clearest difference is review sentiment: UpNote at 86% against XmlPad's 33%. UpNote also leads on rating (4.7 vs 3.9) and update cadence (weekly vs every 7 months). XmlPad's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 8) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 15.6). On price and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. UpNote sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. XmlPad asks for nothing beyond the download.

UpNote holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 3.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: UpNote has 1.1K ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 33% of XmlPad's written reviews are positive against 86% of UpNote's.

XmlPad ships an update every 7 months, UpNote weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
