# Speech Bubble Maker vs Comic Mania

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Comic Mania at none against Speech Bubble Maker's 11. Comic Mania also leads on ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (77% vs 58%). Speech Bubble Maker's advantage is rating (4.3 vs 4.0) and update cadence (every 4 months vs every 15 months). On price and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Speech Bubble Maker sells 11 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days. Comic Mania asks for nothing beyond the download.

Speech Bubble Maker holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Speech Bubble Maker has 800 ratings behind it against 58, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 58% of Speech Bubble Maker's written reviews are positive against 77% of Comic Mania's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Speech Bubble Maker ships an update every 4 months, Comic Mania every 15 months. The most recent releases landed on October 6, 2026 and October 12, 2026 respectively.
