# Handy Reader vs RR

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: RR at none against Handy Reader's 1. Handy Reader's advantage is update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 14 months) and ratings volume (8 vs 1). On price, rating, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Handy Reader sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. RR asks for nothing beyond the download.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for Handy Reader against 5.0 for RR. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Handy Reader has 8 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Handy Reader ships an update every 2 weeks, RR every 14 months. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 4, 2026 respectively.
