# Handy Reader vs Pit.Kit

The clearest difference is rating: Pit.Kit at 5.0 against Handy Reader's 4.8. Pit.Kit also leads on update cadence (weekly vs every 2 weeks). Handy Reader's advantage is ratings volume (6 vs 1) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 18.0). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Handy Reader sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Pit.Kit sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.49 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Pit.Kit holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Handy Reader has 6 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 100% and 100% positive.

Handy Reader ships an update every 2 weeks, Pit.Kit weekly. The most recent releases landed on September 17, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
