# Handy Reader vs RapidNote

The clearest difference is monetization model: Handy Reader at free with in-app purchases against RapidNote's subscription. Handy Reader also leads on iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.1). RapidNote's advantage is update cadence (every 3 days vs every 2 weeks). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Handy Reader sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and RapidNote sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Handy Reader ships an update every 2 weeks, RapidNote every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on July 7, 2026 and September 30, 2026 respectively.
