# Raster vs Fx Stencil

The clearest difference is rating: Fx Stencil at 4.5 against Raster's 3.9. Fx Stencil also leads on ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (1K vs 42). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Raster sells 2 one-off in-app purchases and Fx Stencil sells 4 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Fx Stencil holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 3.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Fx Stencil has 1K ratings behind it against 42, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 44% and 43% positive.

Raster ships an update every 3 months, Fx Stencil every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 7, 2026 and October 20, 2026 respectively.
