# SpectrumU vs Clearinghouse

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Clearinghouse at 50% against SpectrumU's 10%. Clearinghouse also leads on ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). SpectrumU's advantage is rating (4.4 vs 3.9) and ratings volume (318 vs 11). On price, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

SpectrumU holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 3.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: SpectrumU has 318 ratings behind it against 11, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 10% of SpectrumU's written reviews are positive against 50% of Clearinghouse's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

SpectrumU ships an update every 2 weeks, Clearinghouse every 8 days. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
