# DIE ZEIT vs Freitag E

The clearest difference is rating: DIE ZEIT at 4.7 against Freitag E's 4.0. DIE ZEIT also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs every 6 months) and ratings volume (187 vs 1). Freitag E's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and iOS requirement (14.0 vs 16.0). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. DIE ZEIT sells 15 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month and Freitag E sells 46 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

DIE ZEIT holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: DIE ZEIT has 187 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. DIE ZEIT ships an update fortnightly, Freitag E every 6 months. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
