# Babbel vs Infinite Italian

Babbel and Infinite Italian both sit at 4.7 stars, but that hides the real split: 95% of Infinite Italian's written reviews are positive against 44% of Babbel's. Infinite Italian also leads on monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.0). Babbel's advantage is update cadence (every 5 days vs every 5 weeks) and ratings volume (757K vs 241). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Babbel sells 12 in-app purchases, starting at $17.99 per month and Infinite Italian sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for Babbel against 4.8 for Infinite Italian. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Babbel has 757K ratings behind it against 241, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 44% of Babbel's written reviews are positive against 95% of Infinite Italian's.

Babbel ships an update every 5 days, Infinite Italian every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
