# Babbel vs English Verbs

Babbel and English Verbs both sit at 4.7 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of English Verbs's written reviews are positive against 44% of Babbel's. English Verbs also leads on ads (none vs shown) and iOS requirement (15.1 vs 17.0). Babbel's advantage is ratings volume (758K vs 212) and update cadence (every 5 days vs every 2 weeks). On price, rating, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Babbel sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $17.99 per month and English Verbs sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for Babbel against 4.7 for English Verbs. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Babbel has 758K ratings behind it against 212, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 44% of Babbel's written reviews are positive against 100% of English Verbs's.

Babbel ships an update every 5 days, English Verbs every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 6, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
