# Late Model vs Matco Tools

The clearest difference is rating: Matco Tools at 4.7 against Late Model's 3.6. Matco Tools also leads on ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (5.1K vs 35). Late Model's advantage is review sentiment (64% vs 35%) and monetization model (ad-supported vs free with in-app purchases). On price, in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Matco Tools holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 3.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Matco Tools has 5.1K ratings behind it against 35, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 64% of Late Model's written reviews are positive against 35% of Matco Tools's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Late Model ships an update every 3 months, Matco Tools every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 7, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
